How To Clear A Drain Without Chemicals

Posted on 2020-09-182021-04-06 By WebEditor

If you have a pesky drain that is well clogged throughout your home, you may be wondering how you can clear out the drain without using any type of chemicals. Chemical drain cleaner can often be dangerous for your plumbing system and it can corrode away elements of your pipes over time. Here are some simple solutions to help you clear out your drain without chemicals:

Drain Snake

A drain snake is an easy way that you can clear out a blockage quickly and without chemicals. The device unravels into your pipe until you hit a blockage. As soon as you hit the blockage you can twist the snake item around it and pull it up through the pipes. It’s an easy way to dislodge even large clogs.

Plunger

A plunger can be extremely useful for a clogged drain and there are plungers that are designed for drains specifically. Drain plungers are often built in the style of a large red suction cup whereas plungers with an elongated flap are designed for toilets.

Coat Hanger

If you don’t have access to a drain snake, you may be able to bend a coat hanger to handle the same task. Using a wire hanger unwrapped with the hook intact, you could quickly fish out the items that are causing the blockage.

Baking Soda And Vinegar

Baking soda and vinegar is a nonchemical solution that is perfect for removing clogs. Half a cup of baking soda down the drain will wash out your clog. Be sure to clean up the pipes with a warm pot of water to remove the vinegar smell.

Keep some of these ideas in mind for how you can clear your drain without the use of chemicals!
