How to Deal with Clogged Air Ducts

Posted on 2020-10-162021-04-06 By WebEditor

Your air ducts are a component within your home that sees nearly constant use. Your HVAC system will likely develop ongoing issues over time and one of the most common problems that you might face are blockages in your air ducts. Working with an HVAC repair company can make sure that you can quickly solve this problem.

How Air Ducts Get Clogged

Air ducts can often get congested or clogged when you allow them to build up over time. One of the earliest signs that your air ducts could be clogged could be when you spot a large spike in your energy bills. A second indication could be that one of your rooms may be more difficult to heat or cool than the others. If a blocked or clogged air duct continues to persist inside your home it can cause your HVAC system to work much harder, your energy bills to go up, and add extra strain on your HVAC system for the future.

Dirt and debris start to build up in your air filter over time and changing out your air filter at least once every 90 days will improve your air quality and make sure that your air ducts will experience fewer clogs.

Another downside to clogged ducts is that this can often cause your ductwork to damage or leak. When the air has nowhere to go it can cause loose seams and openings that can change the airflow of your ducts. If you suspect that there’s an extra opening in your ductwork or that this has occurred, it’s important to contact an HVAC technician immediately.

How You Can Clear Out A Clogged Air Duct

A professional duct cleaning company is usually the best way that you can handle a clogged duct. These professionals have the right equipment to handle the cleanup process as well as diagnose exactly where the clog has occurred. Professional duct cleaning experts can also seal up any duct leaks or openings to make sure that air can continue circulating efficiently.
