4 Signs Your Septic Tank Is Begging To Be Emptied

Posted on 2021-07-09 By WebEditor

Moving to the country means you’ll have your own well and septic system instead of city services. Septic tanks are very efficient but need to be pumped on a regular schedule. If you’re new to septic systems, here are four signs a tank is begging to be emptied before damage occurs.

  1. It’s on Your Calendar

Turning your calendar page and seeing that your tank is due to be pumped is the least damaging sign. If you’re already scheduled, never cancel this appointment. Septic tanks need to be pumped every 3-5 years depending on household size to keep them running well.

  1. Slow-Moving Drains

Some people think the septic is just connected to the toilet, but all water from your home goes into the tank. If you notice the drains in your home are moving slowly at the same time, your septic is probably full. You’ll need to call septic tank cleaning Orlando and have it taken care of quickly.

  1. Foul Odors

Once you start smelling foul odors, you can be sure your septic tank is desperate to be emptied. These smells can be present either inside or outside the home. If the smell of sewage is creeping up your drains or neighbors are complaining, call for help.

  1. Flooded Yard

Another sign you’ve let the septic tank go too long is if you find a squishy, wet lawn over the drainfield or tank. If it hasn’t rained lately, yet water is pooling up in your yard, it needs to be serviced. You also might notice thick, lush grass over the septic meaning that waste is escaping.

While septic tanks are built to last, you need to be vigilant and stay up-to-date on its maintenance. If you notice slow-moving drains, strange smells or a wet lawn, call your septic company immediately.
